Michelle's Story

Success Starts with S.E.L.F.

Before we can build sustainable success around us, we must understand and develop the person responsible for creating it — you.

"What kind of impact are we actually leaving on the people around us?"

Michelle Wheeler is the founder of Fundamental Foundations LLC and an Impact Advisor who has spent years in Human Resources, leadership development, employee relations, coaching, facilitation, and organizational strategy. She has seen leadership from just about every angle — what happens when people feel seen, supported, challenged, and developed, and what happens when they don't.

Those long-standing observations of impact are a big part of why she created Fundamental Foundations LLC.

Looking at herself differently

Michelle believes that before we talk about becoming better leaders, building stronger teams, or changing workplace culture, we must be willing to look at ourselves first. Because impact starts internally.

That belief didn't just come from professional experience. It came from her personal journey, too. After navigating professional disappointment, rejection, uncertainty, and seasons where she knew she brought value but didn't necessarily feel valued, Michelle started looking differently at success — asking hard questions about how much weight she was giving external validations like titles, credentials, recognition, and other people's opinions.

And somewhere in that process, she started looking at herself differently. Her experience mattered. Her emotional intelligence mattered. Her ability to lead and connect with people mattered. And most importantly, her faith mattered.

Faith at the center

Faith is a huge part of Michelle's story. Her spiritual journey has taught her to seek God before moving — but also to stop making seeking only about "What am I supposed to do?"

What has God already placed inside of me?

What has He entrusted to me?

And what if I'm already more prepared than I realize?

The Book Project

Four foundational principles

S

Seeking

Seeking God before moving — and asking not just 'what should I do?' but 'what has He already placed inside me?'

E

Empathy

Leading with emotional intelligence — the ability to connect with people where they actually are.

L

Limitless Learning

Staying a student of yourself and your craft. Growth doesn't graduate.

F

Faith

The foundation under all of it — the thing that reframes success from the inside out.

The idea is simple: before we can build sustainable success around us, we must understand and develop the person responsible for creating it — you.

On the page

Michelle writes about leadership, HR, workplace culture, personal growth, faith, rejection, and reinvention on Substack. Her writing often explores the space where the professional and personal collide — because she doesn't believe we magically stop being human when we walk into work.

The philosophy

"Great leaders empower. Strong teams thrive."

"Fear cannot exist in leadership."

Whether Michelle is talking about leadership, entrepreneurship, faith, purpose, emotional intelligence, rejection, or having the courage to start again, the conversation usually comes back to the same place: what's happening underneath all of it? Because before we can transform organizations, businesses, relationships, or communities, we must be willing to examine the person creating the impact.

Let's look at what's underneath — together.
